"The Sonata Opus 30 No.1 in A Major started things off, performed by violinist Barbara Coventry and pianist Allen Bishop. Coventry is a professional musician who performs and teaches. Bishop is a psychoanalyst and educator, who continues his studies with Betty Oberacker. Their playing was tender and thoughtful. Flutist Suzanne Duffy performed the Serenade in D Major. The audience was clearly delighted by the merry mood of the piece and Duffy's virtuoso playing."

"Both concerts for the Beethovenfest were standing room only. Saturday's concert de-emphasized the tradition and brought forth the composer in his first stage of mastery. The Brementown String Quartet gave a splendid reading of the Quartet in F Major, Opus 59 No. 1. The two bravura featured soloists, Suzanne Duffy in the flute and piano Serenade, and Barbara Coventry in the violin and piano Sonata Opus 30 No. 1, were splendid."

"Here were musicians in love with their work and their performance glowed. The program allowed several of Beethoven's many authentic personae to step forward."
